Programs

Church of the Three Crosses offers a variety of programs and opportunities for mission for folks to explore and express their faith.

Worship

At 11:00am each Sunday morning (except for the 2nd weekend in June, for Old Town Art Fair, Worship is at 9:00am).

Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. A sanctuary projection system provides opportunities to supplement worship with relevant and enriching images.

Music

Ad hoc musical expressions enhance worship. An “everybody bring your high school band instrument” orchestra is gathered once a year.

“Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”

Luke 2:10

IF YOU WANT TO EXPLORE

Education

It is a natural, human response to want to understand and figure things out, especially about what and why we believe. Thus, adult and youth education is a vital part of our spiritual journey.

Adult Conversations: Meets around exploring relevant topics and subject matters. Normally meets for a 4-week series, with dinner included.

Book Group (Currently Inactive): Meets approximately every six weeks to read and discuss a variety of books, including fiction and theology/spirituality.

Yoga: Join us for vinyasa yoga Saturday mornings, 10:00am in our beautiful naturally lit sanctuary in the round!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

Service & Social Justice

We strive to make a positive difference in the world amidst so many needs and challenges.

Deborah’s Place: Each last Tuesday of the month (September through June) the church provides a meal to the residents of Deborah’s Place, about four blocks from the church building. Deborah’s Place is a supportive housing facility that provides a home to women who have been homeless.

Pride Parade: A contingent of the congregation marches in Chicago’s annual Pride Parade along with the other congregations of the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches.

Our Building as Mission Space: Throughout the week our building, with its flexible and multi-use space, is rented by a variety of neighborhood organizations including support groups, theater companies and Old Town’s Kindermusik. For facility information, go to the “contact” section.

Wedding Space: Wedding space for all couples seeking marriages or civil unions.

Communion Offerings: Throughout each month, an organization is designated as the recipient of that month’s Communion Offering. These recipients are a diverse mix of social service agencies from those providing support to people who are homeless, to agencies offering services to stray animals, to those offering inventive educational programs to children. As follows, these agencies are both national and international in their scope:

  • Access Living

  • Arise Chicago

  • Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA)

  • Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America (CRLN)

  • Deborah’s Place

  • Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR)

  • Lincoln Park Community Services

  • Marjorie Kovler Center

  • National Immigrant Justice Center (division of Heartland Alliance)

  • Nourishing Hope: Sheridan Market

  • Reconciling Ministries Network

  • Red Door Animal Shelter

  • World Communion Sunday (UCC & UMC)

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO CONNECT WITH YOUNG ADULTS

Ad Hoc Outings: Throughout the year we come together to plan various outings throughout the city.
